Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is It For Me?
A. Dedicated hosting provides you with a flexible, powerful platform - you can control, modify and customise the operating system and software to suit your specific business needs.

However, with this flexibility comes a level of responsibility and required expertise. You must be able to manage your own operating system and subsequent applications on this server.

10 Second Servers may not be suitable for you if you:
do not understand internet protocols to a detailed level.
have not run your own web server before.
cannot administer your relevant operating system (Windows 2003) to the required level.
are not willing to commit time to managing and maintaining your applications including:
patching
installation
back-up
general administration.

If you are confident that you understand and can undertake all of the above, or are in the process of learning how to manage your own server, then 10 Second Servers offer a cost-effective solution to your hosting needs.

If this makes you a little nervous try WebCentral's managed solutions.

Q. What happens if the server hard disk fails at 2am?
A. An available resource of a similar level will be provisioned and the username and password details will be resent to you.

Q. How do I get my server rebooted?
A. Please log a job, specifying your reboot request.

Q. How do I access my 10 Second Server - is it via RA Admin?
A. You can connect to your 10 Second Server using Windows Remote Desktop. This requires the IP, username and password on the intended machine. Terminal services are running on the Windows 2003 build.

Q. When I reboot my 10 Second Server, how long will it take before it is back and working?
A. If you reboot the server from your OS, it should be back up in less than 5 minutes, however the actual time may vary depending on your specific application. If you have logged a job, this will be done for you as soon as possible.

Q. Can I ping my 10 Second Server?
A. Yes. 10 Second Servers respond to ICMP echo request packets.
