Dedicated Servers - Frequently Asked Questions

Q.Is it for me?
A.

Dedicated hosting provides you with a flexible, powerful platform - you can control, modify and customise the operating system and software to suit your specific business needs.

However, with this flexibility comes a level of responsibility and required expertise. You must be able to manage your own operating system and subsequent applications on this server.

10 Second Servers may not be suitable for you if you:

  • do not understand internet protocols to a detailed level.
  • have not run your own web server before.
  • cannot administer your relevant operating system (Windows 2003/2008 or Linux Centos) to the required level.
  • are not willing to commit time to managing and maintaining your applications including:
    • patching
    • installation
    • back-up
    • general administration.

If you are confident that you understand and can undertake all of the above, or are in the process of learning how to manage your own server, then 10 Second Servers offer a cost-effective solution to your hosting needs.
